Subject: Importing distribution lists from outlook to gmail contacts group
My problem: I have an Outlook address book, AND an Outlook
distribution list which includes names not in the main address book. I
want to import the distribution list into gmail and put its members
into a group. But Outlook won't export Distribution lists into CSV,
and Gmail will only import CSV. Others have raised this problem in
previous discussions, but no solution was forthcoming.

My solution:
Open the distribution list in outlook and save it as plain text. In a
text editor remove the heading from the text file, so it only has the
email addresses. Create a new folder in Outlook contacts and import
the text file you just created as tab-separated text. The import
wizard allows you to designate which fields go where, just follow the
instructions for names and email. Then export all the contacts in this
new folder as CSV. Import this CSV file into gamil. You now have all
the contacts from the Outlook dist. list. You can manually create a
group in Gmail and add them one by one if you like. Its a bit time
consuming to make the group, but not as bad as having to enter all the
contacts individually as well.

If you have one large distribution list, you can save a bit of time by
doing the following:
Back up then delete all you gmail contacts.
Import the CSV file containing your outlook distribution list you
created using the instructions above, into Gmail.
Add ALL those newly imported gmail contacts to a new group.
Import all your other gmail contacts you backed up in the first step
above to restore your other contacts.

I haven't worked out a way import multiple groups with this method-
you can only do it with the first group you add to an empty gmail
contacts list. Gmail won't let you import csv to a group, only to the
main contact list. So you have to import the contacts from subsequent
outlook dist lists into the main gmail contacts area, then add them to
groups manually.

I hope this helps someone.

Peace and love to all people on planet earth.
