Subject: Concerned Women of America (a Christian right group) blasts Mary Cheney and Heather Poe...

The text following is from a press release put out by CWA (Concerned
Women for America) about the recent birth of the child of Mary Cheney
( VP Dick Cheney's daughter) and her life-partner, Heather Poe.  Read
below and you can just feel the warm Christian love oozing from every
word.

http://www.cwfa.org/main.asp

[begin quoted text]
SBM PRAISES parents and individuals - mothers and fathers - who have
taken on the noble task of adopting children and giving them a chance
at life in the God ordained family unit including a Daddy and Mommy.
Every child deserves a Daddy and Mommy. We understand, sometimes
through death or divorce, that unit is broken - and parents do the
best they could to raise and nurture their child or children. That's
where we as the Body of Christ step in to help and be there for the
family and child. We celebrate these individuals and families.
Sometimes in a second heterosexual marriage, children are adopted. We
praise these men and women who do all they could to raise these
children. THESE ARE REAL PARENTS. This is NOT playing "house."

Homosexual parenting though is something TOTALLY different. It
"mimicks" the real and the natural....

And here is Bennett's press release. I can't even begin to excerpt it
or bold it, it's that bad. Read it:

    OFFICIAL SBM PRESS RELEASE 05/30/07:

White House Officially Recognizes Homosexual Unions and Parenting?

Contact: The Parents Group ~ SBM's National Office, 203-926-6960

    HUNTINGTON, Conn., May 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- On May 23, 2007,
the White House, silently and without any fanfare, released an
official White House photo of Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife,
Lynne Cheney, welcoming their sixth grandchild, Samuel David Cheney,
into the Cheney fold.

The beautiful little tyke weighed in at 8 lbs., 6 oz. and was born
at 9:46 a.m. at Sibley House in Washington, D.C.

What is extremely troubling is the official White House caption
that appears underneath the photo on the official White House website:

"... His parents are the Cheney's daughter Mary, and her partner,
Heather Poe. White House photo by David Bohrer."

Since when have two homosexual women been able to naturally
procreate?

Fact is Mary Cheney, the Vice President's daughter - in one way or
another - received a male's sperm. She is the biological mother,
parent number one, and some man, somewhere out there, is Samuel
David's real biological father, parent number two.

Unlike the official White House photo caption, a man and a woman,
a Daddy and a Mommy, are Samuel David Cheney's REAL biological
parents.

    Then who is Heather Poe?

Heather Poe is Mary Cheney's live-in lesbian lover. She may act
like a parent, she may treat the baby as a parent, she may love this
baby with all of her heart, but in this reality we all live in,
Heather Poe is NOT the baby's real parent. She has NO biological
connection to the child whatsoever. Some man, the baby's real Daddy,
is the child's other REAL parent.

If the Vice President and his wife Lynne are joining their
daughter Mary in playing this homosexual game of "house," then all
have chosen their roles and designated lesbian lover Heather Poe as
the "Daddy."

Everyone knows there can only be one REAL biological Mommy. We are
all grown adults. Playing "house" is a game for children, not for The
White House or the Vice President and his wife.

What is so hypocritical of this Administration is its "double-
speak."

President George W. Bush held several presses conferences calling
for a Federal Marriage Amendment to protect the God-ordained
institution of marriage between one man and one woman, while
homosexuals pushed for the union of two men or two women to be equally
recognized as real "marriage."

However, the President's number two, right hand man, Vice
President Dick Cheney, clearly rebels against his superior, makes a
public mockery of the President and the current Administration he is
supposed to represent, and clearly holds to a different set of moral
standards and beliefs.

When President Bush stood on the victory stage several years ago
after being elected into office by values voters, Mary Cheney was on
stage as well with her lesbian lover, Heather Poe. It was a slap in
the face to the values voters who had just elected the duo into
office. That wound has never healed.

While this little innocent child Samuel David Cheney deserves
every fighting chance at life, the sins of two women, Mary Cheney and
Heather Poe, have deliberately denied the Vice President's grandson
one of the most basic human rights of all: the right to a Daddy and a
Mommy.

I say shame on the White House, shame on the President and shame
on the Vice President for allowing such a caption to be "officially"
added onto the White House website and such a beautiful photo of two
happy grandparents and their new grandchild.

I guess we can tragically and officially say both the White House
and Bush Administration have officially recognized the sinful sexual
unions of homosexuals, as well as recognized and embraced the tragedy
of the social experiment of homosexual parenting. [end quoted text]

In case any should try to disavow CWA as being 'not really
Christian'...

Mission Statement

The mission of CWA is to protect and promote Biblical values among all
citizens - first through prayer, then education, and finally by
influencing our society - thereby reversing the decline in moral
values in our nation.

Vision Statement

The vision of CWA is for women and like-minded men, from all walks of
life, to come together and restore the family to its traditional
purpose and thereby allow each member of the family to realize their
God-given potential and be more responsible citizens.

Statement of Faith

    * We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired, inerrant Word
of God and the final authority on faith and practice.

    * We believe Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, was born of a
virgin, lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial death, rose bodily
from the dead on the third day and ascended into Heaven from where He
will come again to receive all believers unto Himself.

    * We believe all men are fallen creations of Adam's race and in
need of salvation by grace through personal faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ.

    * We believe it is our duty to serve God to the best of our
ability and to pray for a moral and spiritual revival that will return
this nation to the traditional values upon which it was founded.

That's a Christian as it gets folks.

Cheers
DGG

And I can sense it's about to ooze into AvC.

Any minute now.

Christians rushing in to denounce the hate-mongering of the CWA>

It is no wonder that Christians consider Pa to be most loving. Look,
he only has to beat out is Dick Cheney, who, I am sure, is rushing to
his daughter's defense.  Just like he did for Halliburton's interest.

reach out to be parents. As good as it gets. But what do I know?

the US Government ought to be promoting religious morality.

I get so absolutely sick of this "children need a mommy *and* a
daddy!" bullshit that is constantly spouted off by conservatives.  No,
they really don't.  What children need is *good* parenting.  Whether
that parent comes from one person, two people of different genders who
are married, two people of the same gender, or ten people all living
together in one big hippie commune is irrelevant.  What matters is
that *all* of the parenting is good parenting.  One loving,
consistent, and stern when needed parent will do so much more for a
child than two parents who ignore their child, can't set boundaries,
can't enforce rules, and fight all the time.  Parenting is about
quality, not quantity.  And it most definitely isn't about gender.

As a Christian, I feel I should aplogize for this idiotic concept of
marriage should only be between a  "mommy" and "daddy".

I specially like to express disgust for the following paragraph;

"While this little innocent child Samuel David Cheney deserves

I can't being to say what a load of crap that is.

For centuries, Christianity has been used as an excuse for mass
murder.  It has been used as an excuse for persecution and invasion.
And now, it's being used for bigotry, discrimination, and
intolerance.  The Christian right is no better than a bunch of racists
or antisemites. Gay couples can make excellent adoptive parents.  And,
from what I've seen, a damned sight better than a lot of so-called
"natural" parents I've known.  The CWA vents its hatred like this, not
because they're good Christians but because Cheney and Poe are
different than the members of CWA.  The CWA is quick to judge this
couple's morality (so much for "judge not least you be judged) out of
one corner of their mouths, then extoll how loving they are in their
Christian religion out of the other. Gimmie a break!  What mind
boggling hipocracy!  The CWA should take its inquisition back to the
Dark Ages and disappear.  There's enough hatred in the world already
without them.

My response would be the same, except that there's this important
difference.  If an atheist said something like this, they would be
speaking for themselves and would not presume to speak for all
atheists.  These people presume to speak for all Christians, they rap
themselves in the Bible and do so with abandon.

Heck, I could have guaranteed that.

How about most evangelical Christians?  Or just most Southern
Baptists?

It is atheists, not Atheists.

But I'd be amazed if an atheist had Christian thoughts, where she
quoted the bible and all that wrath of God stuff.  But uneducated
bigotry by any other name would deserve the same condemnation.

I note how Christians suddenly become "so called Christians" as soon
as they reveal an ugly side.

While I have a certain degree of appreciation for the fact that most
Christians here seem to be different than those of the religious right
in the US (who are conveniently absent most of the time), don't just
say that anyone that makes you look bad isn't a Christian just because
they take The Bible more literally than you do and don't agree with
you about everything. Making "Christian" synonymous with your
conception of "good" is just as insulting as anything in that article.

heterosexual couple who decides to have the woman artificially
inseminated in order for them to have a child?  Would they also make a
poin loudly and often that the child has a REAL biological father and
it isn't the woman's husband? Would they proclaim that the husband has
NO biological connection to the child whatsoever and that "some man,
the baby's read Daddy is the child's other REAL parent"?

The same could be said about an adopted child. I wonder if these
people go around proclaiming loudly and often that this or that
adopted child is NOT the biological child of their adopted parents and
that there are REAL parents out there somewhere? Do they say that the
adoptive heterosexual couple is PLAYING HOUSE?

The so called christian group added this: "While this little innocent

prevent women from having abortions and give up the child for adoption
instead. Do they also procliam loudly and often that "THIS CHILD HAS
BEEN DENIED ONE OF THE MOST BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, THE RIGHT " TO A
[BIOLOGICAL] DADDY AND A MOMMY."

Sounds to me like the perfect argument for abortion being legal and
available. How many kids do they want running around without a REAL
daddy and mommy?

LL: It's highly unlikely that an atheist would have such thoughts. It
takes theism to engender such asinine thinking.

Obviously, not all christians embrace these thoughts--but such
thoughts are attributed to christianity. Argue with the people who do
this, not the atheists who condemn it. Extremist christians make all
christians look stupid and ignorant. It's unfortunate because a lot of
christians rise above such ideas. But the pool has been badly tainted.

Simultaneously they insult adopted children for being raised by
different people than their birth parents, homosexuals, the Bush
Administration (well, they do have a point there, they are a bunch of
hypocrites... I'm just glad that for once Dick Cheney did a decent and
human thing, in fact the only decent and human thing I can credit to
him), all in the name of Christianity. Biotry and hatred caked in
religious fervor... dangerous combination. I will give credit to
Cheney, though. For once, he did something sensible.

Dillan is empathetic that way.  The puzzling part is that he is
apologizing on behalf of a bigoted organization's rant.  It appears
that he sees this as something he as a Christian should take
responsibility for.

I'd have thought condemning it would have been sufficient.

But show of good intentions, nonetheless.  Especially seeing that he
is about the only Christian who has condemned it thus far.

"lol...I didn't say I agree with them, HA HA HA!"

Just wait. We might start hearing of "so-called atheists" the minute
atheists start showing a reasonable side.

What could he possibly mean by this.
